Your Work for the Lord

Dec 19, 2023 8:59:46 AM • Written by: Nate Flynn

Dear Leader,

Do you enjoy the Christmas season? Or are you like many pastors and leaders who are overwhelmed with stress and exhaustion? The demands of church activities, ministry responsibilities, and the desire to meet the spiritual needs of those you lead often feel urgent. Not to mention family responsibilities.

I do hope that you can find peace, joy, and rest amidst the hustle and bustle; that you can commune deeply with the Lord even as expectations may rise. If you struggle to do so, I'm not here to give you a list of helpful tips.

Rather, as a fellow believer and minister of the gospel, I offer my love, support, and prayer. I deeply admire your sacrifices for the kingdom. In challenging moments, may you remember that imperfection does not diminish the significance of your service.

God's strength is made perfect in our weakness. Your vulnerability, your humanness, is not a flaw but a testament to His grace working through you.

May you embrace the beauty of this season. May you rediscover the awe and wonder of the Christ-child. And may His love envelop you in every aspect of your life and ministry.

In Christ,

Nate Flynn

Learn the Model

There are several methods by which the No Man Left Behind model can be taught.

I am encouraging leadership teams to consider devoting 2024 to studying through the No Man Left Behind book.

One chapter a month allows your team to digest the concepts and strategies of the model while building camaraderie with one another.

If you don't yet have a team, consider gathering some discipleship-minded men and see where it takes you.

This is a method that respects time and process to build a strong foundation for long-term men's discipleship.

 YOUR ACTION STEP:

Take care of your walk

As Area Directors at Man in the Mirror, we are often reminded of Patrick Morley's exhortation that "Your work for the Lord is a direct result of your walk with the Lord."

The reason it is so oft repeated is because our hearts are prone to wander. We're susceptible to the siren of success in the ways of the world rather than the Lord.

Our effectiveness in serving the Lord is intricately tied to the authenticity of our relationship with Him. Genuine leadership in the Kingdom is not merely about tasks and responsibilities; it emanates from a deep, intimate communion with the living God.

Jesus, in John 15:5, declares "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing." This profound metaphor illustrates that our work is a natural overflow of abiding in Christ. As we stay connected to him through prayer, study of His word, and surrender, our lives become channels through which His transformative work flows.
